PROGRESSIVE DISCUSSION GROUP

Hello everyone!

A quick recap of last week's discussion on "Beyond the Techno-Cave" by
Harold Jaffe. There were two creative
essays that touched on a variety of social issues including the
meaning/role of art and how our society deals with mental illnesses.

This week we're starting our discussion based on an article "Doping,
dogs, and Donaghy, oh my" that was in the South Bend Tribune recently.

Ed, Bill, Rey: If you all have an article, essay, etc that you'd like to
bring for us to read for the following week- please do so. If it is
available online, you can just tell us how to find it, otherwise please
make 6-8 copies.

Our study group meets Wednesday evenings, 7-9pm at 611 Portage Ave (home
of Lily and Karl.

We're also holding a more informal gathering on Sunday evenings (also at
611 Portage Ave) from 7pm onward. Optional vegetarian-friendly potluck &
BYO beer or wine.

For more info- karl_j_hardy at yahoo.com or lily.hoang.326 at gmail.com

Thanks!
Karl

PORTAGE AVE SALON

Hello!

This is an invitation to the "Portage Avenue Salon" an idea that has
come from the Michiana Progressive Discussion Group. Our discussion
group has been meeting monthly since September of last year and decided
to evolve into two different meetings, one being the Salon and the other
being a more focused study group.

We're inviting progressive-types to hang out and socialize at our place
in what we hope to be a "salon atmosphere." Salon like French bohemian
artists/intellectuals not the a place to get your hair cut.

Vegetarian-friendly potluck if you feel like it, same goes for BYO beer
or wine. We won't be keeping score of who brings dishes or drinks to
share- it's totally optional.

If you have friends who you think would be interested in this sort of
thing, please feel free to bring them along.

When:
Sunday evenings, 7pm onward

Where:
611 Portage Avenue, located in the Near Northwest Neighborhood of South
Bend. Parking available on the north side of the street - across from
our house - and if needed in the alley behind our house.

Any questions, etc. please reply only to karl_j_hardy at yahoo.com
<mailto:karl_j_hardy at yahoo.com> or lily.hoang.326 at gmail

Hope to see you Sunday!
Lily Hoang & Karl Hardy
