LAST CHANCE TO CANVASS FOR KATHLEEN
Today, Saturday, Nov. 3, is the last chance to help Kathleen Petitjean
canvass the 1st District in South Bend.
Canvassers meet at 2:00 PM at Tom Brown's house, divide in teams of two
and head to their assigned precincts with flyers. Volunteers walk the
district from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, placing Kathleen's flyers behind doors
and under door mats.
Last week we ran out of flyers. But it won't happen today! Kathleen has
1000 freshly printed flyers ready to distribute in the 1st District
today and tomorrow at the Green Up! Step It Up! rally downtown.

GREEN UP! STEP IT UP! RALLY
[Adapted from Laura Fuderer's announcement]
Come march with us to protest global warming and demand that government
do something about it!
We're marching from two different places, one at Notre Dame and one at
IUSB, and the two groups will meeting up downtown where there will be
speakers from the Green Party, Sierra Club and Rep. Joe Donnelly.
Here are details:
At 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, a group will meet at the Peace Pole in front
of the Schurz Library on the IUSB campus and will walk along the St. Joe
River to the Jon Hunt Plaza in downtown South Bend, right in front of
the Morris Performing Arts Center.
At 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov 4., a group will meet at the main circle adjacent
to the Law School and Alumni Hall on the Notre Dame campus and will walk
to the Jon Hunt Plaza downtown. There will be a police escort for the
"Notre Dame/SMC group" because of the number of streets needing to be
crossed. The walkers should obey all traffic signals and proceed down
Notre Dame Avenue to South Bend Avenue, turning right at Club 23, head
downhill to Colfax, taking Colfax across the bridge to downtown. [Those
driving to campus for the walk could park in the bookstore lot and
gather at the main circle or meet up with the marchers as they head
south along Notre Dame Avenue.]
We have two goals: one is to draw attention to the problem and the other
is to present one solution -- a petition to the mayors and Councy
Commissioners to sign on to the "Cool Cities Campaign" (a.k.a. "U.S.
Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement."

Hope to see you there!
