Subject: Come to the State House Wed. to support anti-war escalation
resolutions
Hi folks,
Please come to the State House on Wednesday, March 7th at 3:30 pm and / or
at 4:45 pm if you possibly can to show your support for State House and
Senate resolutions opposing President Bush¹s escalation of troops to Iraq.
See press release below for full details. It is very important that states
send a message to the president expressing their opposition to this war.
State legislatures across the country are trying to pass similar
resolutions.
Thank you,
Karina Wood

MEDIA ADVISORY
News conference, hearing set on Iraq escalation Resolutions
STATE HOUSE A news conference will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 7, in the House Lounge (second floor, west of the State
House) to discuss and rally support for Resolutions opposing the U.S. troop
escalation in Iraq.
The Resolutions are scheduled to be heard the same day by the
House Committee on Constituent Services. That hearing is scheduled for Room
203 of the State House at the Rise of the House (approximately 4:45 or 5
p.m.).
Attending the news conference will be the primary sponsors of
the House Resolutions, which acknowledge support for American troops but
call on Congress to oppose continued escalation of those troops in Iraq. The
three principal House sponsors are Rep. Elizabeth M. Dennigan (D-Dist. 62,
East Providence, Pawtucket) 2007-H 5195; Rep. Eileen S. Naughton (D-Dist.
21, Warwick) 2007-H 5222; and Rep. Paul W. Crowley (D-Dist. 75, Newport)
2007-H 5340.
Also expected to attend the news conference is Sen. Joshua
Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Warwick), who has introduced a similar
Resolution in the Senate 2007-S 0100.
Other General Assembly members, including many of the
co-sponsors of the various Resolutions, are also expected to attend the news
conference.
