Dear Claire,

For the last few months, instead of negotiating a comprehensive immigration
reform bill with the Senate, House Republican leaders have decided to try to
score political points by traversing the country to foment anti-immigrant
hysteria. While they're wasting time and taxpayer dollars with sham
immigration hearings, their lack of effective action on real immigration
reform is helping to fuel an ugly movement that threatens to expose
undocumented and documented immigrants to racial profiling and harassment.

Now this dog and pony show is coming to Colorado and there are TWO things
you can do to show your support for comprehensive immigration reform.

First: Join us Tuesday, August 29, the day before the congressional hearing,
when pro-immigration advocates will hold "Untold Stories: An Alternative
Hearing on Immigration."  This alternative hearing will focus on the untold
stories of immigrants with testimony from workers, citizens, faith leaders
and others. Please represent the views of Colorado residents by attending.

What:   "Untold Stories: An Alternative Hearing on Immigration"

When:    Tuesday, August 29, 6:00pm

Where:  St. Joseph's Catholic Church 
              Gymnasium, 605 W 6th Ave (and Galapago) Denver, Colorado
              Program in English with interpretation to Spanish

Second: Join us on Wednesday, August 30, at the congressional hearing and
make sure the audience represents other perspectives besides those of the
Minutemen and right-wing House leaders.

Although the August 30 hearing will not provide a forum for the public, the
press will be covering it, and you can help show the media that residents of
Colorado believe in a fair approach to immigration reform.

What:    Congressional Immigration Hearing         

When:   Wednesday, August 30 at 2:30pm

Where:  City Council Chambers
             1515 East Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO
